The Autism & ASD Spectrum
Autism, ADD and ASD are parts of a spectrum of multifactorial dysfunction which actively presents from early infanthood, and progresses throughout adulthood. It is an increasing problem, not exclusively in the UK but throughout the developed world.
Summarised by a range of symptoms including biochemical disturbance, functional disorder, recognisable physical traits and mood and mind irregularities, Autism, ADD and ASD individuals often find it difficult to find their way through mainstream healthcare or know where to turn. The symptoms all reflect one underlying condition, the developmental delay of the brain.
The Parents or Carers of anyone who has been given a statement or displays the symptoms indicated by this Spectrum will know how debilitating it can be, both for the growth and development of the individual and for the substantial impact on the wider family unit. This chronic health condition has a complex aetiology and broad range of emotional, biomedical and social symptoms. This makes it hard for any individual specialist, or single-discipline health practitioner to manage the wide range of therapeutic support needed. The result is often parents either travelling widely across the UK to find appropriate support, or giving up on any progressive treatment and leaving things as they are. It is bewildering and often demoralising for parents to try to manage alone and the trauma and impact on the family is high.
The Clinic is one of the few centres of excellence for the integrated natural treatment of autistic spectrum children in the UK. With over 50 children currently being treated, our specialist team has built up a wealth of knowledge in this sector and has had significant success in improving the functionality and quality of life for many of these individuals, while offering support to the primary carer.
